Yesterday, I took Stinkbug on a date with Mommy. He is such a special little man, and being stuck between a (dramatic) big sister and an (adorable) baby brother can be tough sometimes, so we want to make sure Stinkbug gets plenty of time and attention too!
I still feel scared as I creep into his room long after bedtime and kiss his soft, sweet cheek and whisper prayers over him. I still don’t feel like I know anything about raising boys up to be godly men!
After our date, we walked up to the gate outside our apartment building and I asked Stinkbug if he would open the door for me (since I was carrying four grocery bags). He ran gladly ahead and swung the gate wide and said, “I open ’cause I a man!”
Me: Are you ready to eat a Sloppy Joe for lunch?
Bug: No. No Sloppy Joe.
Me: OK, how about a Messy Joe?
Bug: Doing, Mommy?
Me: I’m chopping up an onion to make dinner.
Bug: Good job, woman!
Tonight Bug wanted to sit in my lap when I finished feeding Little Man. Her Daddy boosted her up and I cuddled them both for a minute. I handed LM over to his daddy on the ottoman so we could all say bedtime prayers together. I started praying and Bug leaned way out of my lap over her brother, grabbed both of his hands, placed them together and said “Men!” (her version of “amen”)
Hubby and I caught eyes and made “my-heart-is-melting-that-was-so-cute” faces at each other.
I have so much to be thankful for, and need to spend some serious reflection time over the next few days gathering my heart-thoughts, appreciating my blessings, and thanking my Lord… I do know without a doubt I’m so thankful for my amazing Hubby and my two sweet munchkins– I couldn’t have designed a better family for myself!
I truly am a blessed wife and mommy!
